Money can buy everything and nothing. Paper is worth nothing and everything. What is money? What to do with it? We’ve printed all the money, honey, all that love can buy. STRIKE!
STRIKE is a pop-up currency. It’s both a game and a tool to trigger questions about where money comes from and how we deal with it. STRIKE is an interactive performance to stimulate participants to re-think their daily economic interactions. STRIKE creates new possibilities and new meanings of money and lets the participants experience it. Because it is like it is, doesn’t mean it has to stay like it is, right?
Mirjam de Klepper is the founder of Vienna Shares - the growing knowledge and praxis hub on sharing (in) the city. She has created numerous urban interventions and has hosted DIY workshops, podium debates and community meetings.
Kasia Gruszka is a research associate and PhD student at the Institute for Ecological Economics at the WU Vienna. In plain words, she focuses on studying change in how we do stuff. Some ‘bigger’ words for that would be: socio-ecological transformation, with particular focus on changes in collaborative and sharing practices. She is well-known in the international sharing community and as an active sharer in Vienna.
Together, Kasia and Mirjam are the key drivers behind the project ‘Towards Vienna as a Sharing City’ and the inventors of STRIKE!.
