Nina Fountedakis paints with Menstrual blood and hereby lifts the tabued, often shamed and viewed as dirty or unhygienic, bodily fluids in the field of art. She creates a new awareness of what is viewed as beautiful and remarkable and how these concepts change if we put them in a new context. What changes when the viewer knows about the material used and why? What difference is there between blood and menstrual blood? With her works she tries to put new attention on the topic menstruation and make it into a public subject.
