Lia Stephanie Popa

Born 1988 in North-Eastern Romania, Popa first met the piano at an early age thanks to her parents. She won seven national prizes, including fourth prize at the international competition “Golden Lira”, which lead to the awarding of a Certificate of Excellence, Certificate of Merit and Festartelis Certificate in Music, all these conferred by the Iași City Hall, Romania.
In 2008 she began her studies at the Vienna Konservatorium, and since then has also collaborated with singers from Vienna State Opera and Vienna Volksoper. In 2010 she was named Artist in Residence by the Cultural Institute of Romania in Paris, where she concluded a research on George Enescu. Popa graduated the Master in Musical Interpretation at the George Enescu University of Arts in Iași. Her thesis with the title “Impressionism in music” explores the theories of correspondence between colors and sounds, where each color is associated to a specific musical theme. In 2015 she had her debut on the London stage, at the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields.
